Arcata is a city, adjacent to Humboldt Bay, in Humboldt County, California, United States. The population was 16,651 during the 2000 Census. This quirky and socially progressive college town is home to both the Humboldt State University and the Humboldt Crabs, a successful minor league baseball team.
