Bloomfield Hills is a city in Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located in the Detroit metropolitan area, surrounded by Bloomfield Township. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 3,940. Bloomfield Hills consistently ranks as one of the five wealthiest cities in the United States of over 1,000 households - in 2000 it was ranked fourth and in 1990 it was ranked second - and it is the richest city outside of California or Florida. In 2000, 57.9% of all families in Bloomfield Hills had a household income of over $200,000 , and 39% of households in Bloomfield Hills have a value of over $1,000,000 .
