Cayce is a city located in Lexington County, South Carolina, along the Congaree River. As of July 2003, the city had an estimated population of 12,388, about 2% more than the 2000 census figure of 12,150.

The city was incorporated in May 1914.

With a rich historical heritage, the City of Cayce includes the site of one of the earliest European settlements in what was then known as the "back country." Cayce also contains the site of Fort Granby, where several important Revolutionary War skirmishes were fought. In May 1914 when the city was formed, the name Cayce was chosen to honor one of its prominent citizens, William J. Cayce.

Linked to the interstate system at multiple points and adjacent to the Columbia Metropolitian Airport (IATA:CAE), Cayce offers quick access to rest of the Palmetto state and (via the airport) the world.

Conveniently located directly across the Congaree River from the state capital of Columbia, additional cultural and recreational amenities of the Midlands are just minutes away. Because both it and the neighboring town of West Columbia share the west bank of the Congaree relative to Columbia, they are frequently referred to jointly as Cayce-West Columbia. However, they are politically separate towns.

The Congaree River has always played a dominant role of strategic importance in Cayce’s development. Through the joint effort of the City of Cayce and the River Alliance, the Cayce Riverwalk along the Congaree provides a peaceful and natural setting for walking, jogging, and enjoying nature. Development on both sides of the river is a driving force in the continuing economic development of the City of Cayce.
